RealCart [Tags] 101 - Registry Tags

Registry Branches

RealCart registry entries can be retrieved with Square Tags. RealCart uses the system registry to store global values like Country Codes and State Codes, Languages supported by RealCart, Secure Order Provider configuration info, the EBay regions and a host of other items.

RealCart registry branches include:

Registry Tags
(if using EBay functionality)

[eBay] EBay settings for all stores.

[eBayRegions] EBay Regions used for listing items for all stores.

[eBayURL] EBay URLs used for all stores in EBay item listings.

[Languages] Languages supported by RealCart.

[MsgBoxPrompts] Database of which dialogs have been suppressed with “[ ] Don’t show me this again.”

[Rebars] Position of the browser Theme and Template pull-down menus in RealCart.

[SecureServerProviders] Secure Order Provider settings.

[Settings] General Program Settings.

[StoreFiles] The templates which will be parsed every time all pages are rebuilt.

[TaxCodes] States and Country tax abbreviations.

[Tip] Tip of the day settings.

[Tools] Optional programs that are currently available on RealCart’s Tools menu.

[User] User info used for technical support.

[UserField] Miscellaneous values used in the templates and user menus.

Creating Tags out of Registry Branches

Creating a registry tag is a very simple process. Start the Registry Editor regedit.exe by clicking the Windows Start button and selecting Run (You will see 'Run' near the bottom of the start menu.) In the Open field type “regedit” (without the quotes) and click OK.

The registry editor will start. Although most of the tags that are possible with the registry will have little, if any value from a store designing standpoint. Some of them might become handy should you decide to create your own EBay functionality with new forms, templates, user menus, etc.

For our first example let’s open up the RealCart.com branch by clicking the Plus Signs [+] next to the following branches.

Click on the UserField folder (at the bottom of the list under RealCart.) You will notice that on the right side of the screen you will see the following keys (as well as others not shown below):
