RealCart 101 - The Prime Directive

The very essence of RealCart is its ease of use for the web shopper; that is why RealCart exists in the first place. In 1995, RealCart’s founder, a professional web site designer, searched the Internet for the easiest shopping cart but came up empty-handed. The problem is that none of them were anything like a real shopping cart. Nothing at all. It was puzzling to him how all these “shopping carts” didn’t look (or act) anything like a real shopping cart. “Why is this?“ he thought.

Obviously, there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to e-commerce. In the beginning, e-commerce was designed by web geeks for web geeks. We say, what about the average guy (or gal)? Their money is good too, right? After the tireless search for something feasible, the glaring need for a shopping cart that is easy to use quickly emerged

Keep the ease factor clearly in mind as you customize your store. Remember that the more clicks it takes to buy something, the less often you will end up selling it. The old K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid) rule applies very nicely to e-commerce. Try to resist the urge to run RealCart without frames (it doesn’t work) or to otherwise compromise the ease factor. Any old shopping cart can be hidden from the shopper's view. If a hidden shopping cart is really what you want, then RealCart is not for you. Our research over the last five years has proven that the “always visible” aspect of RealCart is what makes it so easy for your web shoppers to use. Circumventing this feature will result in lower sales. This isn’t our opinion, this is a proven fact.
