RealCart 101 - The Basics

RealCart was created with customization in mind. While you don't have to be a master web developer to customize RealCart, you will need to become comfortable with a text editor and looking at HTML code. You will not need to learn HTML to participate in these courses. Learning HTML or JavaScript is completely optional for attending RealCart University.

In this course, we will explore the relationships between RealCart’s templates, finished pages and your product database. What makes it all work and how you can harness the power of the RealCart parser to make your life as an e-merchant easier and more efficient.

Utilizing RealCart Square Tags, you can automate some of the “design work” such as adding extra thumbnail or zoom images. You can add PDF files using the stock number tag as well as create all types of neat possibilities including individual page tracking on your web site. We will begin by examining the mechanics of how you build a store with RealCart.

Templates make it happen

RealCart templates are the magic behind the program. They are based on plain HTML and can be edited with any popular editor like FrontPage, DreamWeaver or even notepad.exe. We prefer EditPad Classic and will base our courseware on examples of editing the code directly.

Although EditPad Classic is the recommended text editor, you can use Windows notepad.exe, if you prefer. Some of the instructions we give you, however, cannot be carried out with Windows notepad. Considering the cost, there is no reason not to download, install and register EditPad Classic.
